All map tiles need to be shuffled and handed out to each player evenly until no more remain. The player with the Joda City map tile (red border on map tile) is considered the first player.
Our map tiles are magnetic, and will click together when near each other. When the first map tile is placed (Joda City), the next player to the left will place a map tile that MUST attach to the first place map tile.
The First Born is the Bastard looking to ascend to the throne. You will get a second, lesser known Bastard to help you in turn four, but the First Born is the Bastard seeking to win the throne!
Each player starts out with 3 Chaos Cards. Chaos Cards are refreshed to maximum hand size (3) at the end of each round.
Skeleton Cards are dirty little secrets a Bastard Card may have. You do NOT want other players to expose your Skeletons. Skeleton Cards always begin face down until revealed in some way. The First Born Bastard will start with One Skeleton Card (face down) and do NOT take effect until they are revealed.
On turn Four Festival, you will receive another Bastard (Champion) to help the First Born, but the Champion will not have any Skeleton Cards attached to start...that doesn't mean other players cannot give them to the Champion.
Endorsement Cards can be purchased with your gold, or gained through using Chaos Cards. Endorsements significantly increase the power of your Bastard(s). Endorsements aren't cheap, so make sure you really need them before purchasing them.
The First Born rolls a d10 and the Champion will roll a d8. Of course these dice can be modified (good or bad) using Chaos Cards.
If you have more than 1 character in a territory for a Contest, you will add their die rolls and stats together for that Contest.
YES! By the time you've reached the game's final round, most players have stocked up on gold and want to spend it, but there is an order to spend your gold on the final round. The First Player will begin this final purchase, followed by the player to their left, and so on until all players decide to no longer spend any gold or run out of gold.
We love questions related to our game. We also love suggestions, they tell us what you want to see in the game to make it more robust, or if there is something we missed that needs to be added as errata, we value your words, so please send them along to us at (info@flamestrykegames.com). There are many other items covered in the rulebooks as well that are not listed here, our recommendation is to start there, and if other questions about the game arise, please send us an email, we WILL respond right away!
The word OR is called out twice in the Contest section on page 9. This is supposed to be only called the one time in that paragraph.
Thanks to Rachel O. for noticing this and making our game better!!!!
